The Liriodendron Mansion

 

When Suzy and Pete decided to get married last year, they knew that they wanted a small and intimate venue. They also wanted to have a wedding that felt special, as well as green and natural.

They stumbled on the Liriodendron Mansion during their search and were immediately charmed by the Palladian mansion’s marble fireplaces, woodland gardens, and especially its wisteria-canopied terrace. It was a beautiful, historic home that they thought would be the perfect place for their ceremony and reception.

This stunning mansion was designed by the Baltimore architectural firm of Wyatt and Nolting in 1898. It is a masterpiece in the Georgian Revival style and has been lovingly maintained by the non-profit Liriodendron Foundation.

Guests can enjoy the garden, including the terrace, where they can watch a sunset. It also has a pier for fishing, and the surrounding water is home to a variety of fish such as largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and black bullhead.

The grounds are also home to a lovely garden house and a number of outbuildings that include a corn crib, a smokehouse, two ice houses, and a shed.

The Mansion has been a popular destination for Bel Air residents since 1898. The secluded and romantic property is a haven for weddings, wine tastings, and parties.

It’s also the perfect spot for concerts and shows, so be sure to catch Music at the Mansion in the summer! This outdoor concert series is held every Sunday in the Liriodendron’s courtyard and features a variety of musicians.

Gaelic Mishap will be performing Celtic rock on July 10. This Irish-American band was founded in 2010. Its members span a generation, so you can expect the show to be an interesting mix of traditional and contemporary styles.

They’ll be playing on a wide range of instruments, so the audience will be entertained throughout the performance. Their most recent concert was sold out, so be sure to get tickets early!

The Mansion hosts events regularly to bring locals together and give visitors a chance to experience some of the best that Bel Air has to offer. They have a lively art gallery that’s filled with works by local artists who want to share their talents with others. They also have archival collections and educational exhibits that will make you learn more about the history of the area.

Those with kids can enjoy the playground while they visit the grounds of the estate, which are surrounded by a wooded hill. It is a beautiful location for a picnic or a family day out.
